Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Welcome back to a new school year, at Sirius College, Ibrahim Dellal Campus.

I would like to thank and congratulate those new parents and students for making the right choice by enrolling at Sirius. We are confident that you will be satisfied with our disciplined and valued educational approach when it comes to shaping our future generations.

As most of you are aware, I am the new principal, Mr Halil Ibrahim, and I have come from one of our sister schools in South Australia, Pinnacle College, Elizabeth Campus. Having held a school managerial position for the last eight years in WA, VIC and SA, I truly understand that success will only be possible with the contributions and support of our parents, students and staff. In turn, I also deeply appreciate and acknowledge all the tremendous effort and commitment of every previous principal, especially that of my predecessor Mr Hasan Dagli, for bringing the campus to its current state.

A growing school has many demands and one of them is the restructuring of management positions within the school. Our new managerial structure is designed to adequately deal with delivering the best for our students in terms of their academic and pastoral care needs, and catering for their general sense of well-being. I would like to take this opportunity to announce the management roles at our campus and introduce those staff members who will proudly perform those roles (in alphabetical order):

Ms Halide Atasay – Infant Primary Coordinator
Ms Ozlem Coskun – Primary Administration Coordinator
Mrs Sebnem Golbasi – Secondary Girls' Year Level Coordinator
Ms Mirela Hot – Primary Teaching and Learning Coordinator
Mr Levent Ozaltin – Daily Organiser
Mrs Nesibe Takimoglu – Girls' Pastoral Care Coordinator
Mr Adrian Verga – Secondary Boys' Year Level Coordinator
Ms Esra Yildirim-Bas – Upper Primary Coordinator
Mr Ahmet Yilmaz – Boys' Pastoral Care Coordinator
Mr Oguzhan Yilmaz – Secondary Teaching and Learning Coordinator

Sirius College Ibrahim Dellal Campus is now eight years old and is improving its facilities day by day. On this note, I would like to share the good news that construction of our new Administration Building will begin very soon. It will consist of a main office plus additional administration offices; a canteen and cafeteria; an art room; a science laboratory; a board room; accessible toilets; and six new classrooms. The expected completion date is November this year. Besides these new and exciting additions, Sirius College Ibrahim Dellal Campus has been extending its very well-deserved reputation deeper into the wider community. This has helped us increase our total student enrolment from 380 to around 425 this year, and this added stability means our future is looking very promising.

As I mentioned, as a young, growing school our facilities are still improving, but we use the best resources possible and I am confident that we provide a higher quality of education than most around us do. There is significant improvement in our students’ skills in literacy and numeracy, for example. This should give each and every one of you confidence that students at our Campus are provided with a strong foundation that starts in their junior school years, and is carried over into their senior years through to the VCE, in a highly successful educational institution.

With the imminent commencement of the above-mentioned construction, we are having to redesign our car park, including making changes to the drop off and pick up areas and a restructuring of the parking bays. These changes are necessary in order to allow access for workers and construction vehicles. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause, but we know you appreciate that this short-term disruption will result in long-term benefits.

In closing, I wish every student, parent and staff member a successful and - most importantly – a peaceful school year.

Yours sincerely,
Mr Halil Ibrahim
Principal, Ibrahim Dellal Campus
